It's Winter time.

My birthing story. CAUTION: Long story.

I must agree that every pregnancy is different from the other.

With Summer, it was short and sweet. I had a tiny slightest pinkish spot on a Saturday evening. On Monday morning, my lower back was aching. We went to bed at 9:47pm and been waking up every 7minutes due to lower back pains. I prayed for a sign if it was time to go to the hospital. At 2am, I went to pee and had a drop of blood. I took a bath. Left home at 3am, travelling at a speed of 60-80kph, and arrived at St. Luke's at 3:30am. I waited for Omar at the lobby while he was parking our car, walked to the elevator, to the delivery room and found out that I was 6cm dilated already. I gave birth at 6:45am.

With Winter, it was different. I had rashes 2weeks before I gave birth and cough a week before giving birth.

Monday morning - I had spotting, actually since then until I gave birth.

Wednesday - kahit may bagyo, check-up pa rin ako hoping I'll be giving birth na. Mild pa daw contractions ko, dapat daw yung masakit na. Mataas and closed pa rin. Dapat daw at least 3minutes interval para sure na manganganak na ako.

Thursday - had my haircut in the afternoon kahit may contractions na.

I decided to go to work on Thursday kesa sa bahay lang ako na walang ginagawa at iintindihin ko lang mga rashes ko at mangangati. At sa bahay, walang driver. At least, kasama ako ng driver at busy ako sa work, makakalimot ako sa mga kati ko sa katawan.

On our way home, I was having contractions every 7-8minutes. Syempre, di ko alam kung ito na ba ang contractions na inaabangan ko at baka mild pa rin ito. I had my haircut, still with contractions.

We had dinner with my inlaws at their house, contractions were 5minutes apart na. On our way home, parang nagiging 3minutes interval na.

So I called my OB, sabi nya go to the hospital kung 3minutes na. I asked pano kung mali, then she said, uuwi ako. I asked pano ko malalaman na tama na, di ko daw malalaman kung di ako pupunta sa hospital. Ayaw ko kasi ng false alarm, gusto ko sigurado. So I told her, observe ko muna.

When I went to bed, contractions were getting stronger pero naging 8minutes interval na. So I put Summer to sleep. Come 11pm, I told Omar to get the car na. He called my inlaws to help look after Summer, but instead they went with us to the hospital. Traffic pa sa Nagtahan bridge at may ginagawang Meralco line sa mga ilaw dun. Contractions were getting stronger and intervals shorter.

We got to the hospital at 12:05am of August 22. I took the wheel chair this time from the car to the delivery room with my inlaws and did not wait for Omar anymore while he was parking the car. I even walked from the door of the delivery room to the bed where they examined me. Turned out, I was almost fully dilated at 9cm. They were saying that I could do lamaze. I said no at baka di na masundan. I asked them to sedate me and to give me anesthesia, and so they did.

When I opened my eyes, they told me I'm done. I gave birth to William John aka Winter at 1:25 am of August 22 weighing 7lbs. 11oz with a length of 50.5cm. I like the date pa rin, kasi parehas sila ni Summer na 22, with Summer born on March 22.Tip for those giving birth at the Philippines, July and August are peak month for giving birth. I gave birth at 1:25am, Omar was able to get a room at 9am, I was transferred to our room at 10am. Ang hirap kumuha ng room, plus the rising number of cases of dengue in the country. We weren't able to get a private room, but a semi-suite room instead. There was a private room available kaya lang pinanggalingan ng infectious disease patient, with our baby rooming-in with us, that's a big No No.That completes our (Omar and mine) seasons, our reasons - our Summer and Winter.

38weeks

I went to see my OB earlier than scheduled. Actually, it was really to see a derma as my rashes are spreading and it's so itchy I'm having a hard time sleeping at night.

I am silently wishing she'd tell me that I cannot go home anymore and that I'm about to give birth na. The date was Aug. 20, I like it too kasi 08-20-2008. So, on our way to the hospital, bilin ako kay Mommy na wag muna kukuha ng kwarto para tipid hehehe and give na din ako money sa driver for his lunch just in case manganganak na ako at madedelay uwi namin. Bumabagyo pa naman kaya we cannot afford to go back and forth sa hospital at bahay sa sobrang traffic at baha.

Turned out, it's still close and mataas, kahit nagsspotting na ako almost everyday. Sige uwi na lang ako.

As with the derma, she prescribed me Virlix and gave me steroids to apply to my rashes twice a day, which is safe for the baby naman.

First sign?

I woke up today with spotting! It's August 18, nice date! I like that! Will I give birth na kaya? With Summer before, I never had this much spotting.

Irritating.

Just got back from my derma.

Looks like it's a skin irritation. It doesn't look like an allergy from medicines naman daw. So, baby's safe as it is not harmful for the baby.

The derma prescribed a medicine, a solution to soak my hands to, and cream. I'm in my full term naman daw na so it's safe to use even if I'm pregnant.

I hope it gets better soon. It's so irritating to see and feel. Skin irritation nga =).

38 weeks

CBC's passable. UTI naman, antibiotics is a must.

I started with my antibiotics, Amoclav, Saturday morning. Over the weekend, I just can't remember if Saturday and Sunday, I started having rashes on my hand. Omar even joked that maybe I did not wash my hands before going to bed. I ignored it.

Wednesday, I texted my OB and asked if it's pregnancy related. She asked me to stop taking the antibiotics. That'll be my 5th day of taking it. I am scheduled to get my urinalysis again on the 6th day. I know, I must have a long threshold of pain to last that long. Yes, it's itchy but it's tolerable.

Thursday, I had my urinalysis again.

Now, I saw my OB. Urinalysis got better. She prescribed Virlix and some ointments for temporary relief. But I have to see a dermatologist to identify the rashes if it's some kind of an allergy or infection.

I was silently hoping that she won't let me go home anymore and tell me that I'm about to pop. But, I guess, Winter wanted to stay inside me more. Summer must be praying really hard hehehe. Baby's still mataas and it's still sarado pa daw.

Now, I so want to give birth na. Ang bigaaaaaaattttt na!!!!

Sheesshhh!

Got a text from my Ob's secretary to call the clinic for my test results.

I wasn't able to call agad since I read the message late already so I wasn't able to talk to the OB. Looks like my CBC is okay na since wala naman daw binilin na ang doctor.

But, I have to take an antibiotic cause they saw some traces of white blood cells yata from my urinalysis, some kind of an infection. And on my 6th day of taking the antibiotics, I have to have my urinalysis again.

Bakit kay Summer wala naman akong ganito?! Haay!!!!

Breastfeeding Techniques and Benefits

The Department of Ob's and Child Health, in cooperation with The Family Care of St. Luke's Medical City sponsored a free seminar featuring Breastfeeding.

With my first baby, I was able to give her expressed breastmilk for 6months. I never got to learn how to teach her to latch properly from me.

With my second baby, I so wanted to breastfeed him longer and properly. That's why I made sure to learn how to do it.

And so I attended the seminar. Guest speakers are Dra. Silvestre and Lyn Ching. They showed us the benefits of breastfeeding, proper latch and position.

I pray that I may be able to put into practice what I learned from the seminar. I so want to breastfeed my baby longer this time.

8/8

Winter got a perfect score of 8/8 for his bio-physical ultrasound.

He got a nice heartbeat and very active. We saw his stomach, liver, and kidneys and everything was okay naman daw. We just didn't get to see his face lang kasi nakadapa na naman sya, pero head down naman! My amniotic fluid is enough too.Summer was with me. As usual, naka-tanga sa monitor trying to look for the baby hehehe.

With my previous bio-physical ultrasound with Summer on my 34th week with her and with Winter on his 36th week, mas malaki pa rin si Summer!

Thank God I'm having a healthy boy!

Day Off

Finally, a day off!

I was able to stay at home the whole day today.

I packed our hospital bags - pero feeling ko may kulang pa rin sa pinack ko.
I fixed Winter's things in the drawer - share na lang sila ni Ate Summer nya.
I fixed my things - way over due na sa sobrang gulo hehehe

I was able to spend time with Summer! She was so happy to see me when she got home from school. We had our Teacher Mama time (doing her Kumon workbooks), fed her lunch, and she slept for 3hours after lunch! (ginising ko pa yon at baka mahirapan ako patulugin sa gabi, which is mahirap nga!), fed her dinner, and more play time together.

Syempre work pa rin, have to start doing the payroll for Thursday.

Nakakapagod din maghapon sa bahay, nakaka-inip buti na lang may Summer.

At 36weeks

I had my check-up with my OB and it's going to be weekly from now on.

I have the same weight now with Winter, on my 36th week, when I was on my 30th week with Summer. Yes, I may look sooooooooo big now but I was bigger on my first pregnancy.

According to Ate Aida, it's still close (di ko alam kung alin ang close basta di pa sya lalabas) and the baby is still mataas. I just have to get my CBC test again and bio-physical ultrasound. I plan to get my ultrasound on Friday para kasama si Ate Summer.

I was on my liver/ampalaya diet for weeks now and taking calamansi juice too kasi medyo sinisipon ako. Sabi nila bawal daw calamansi kasi pampababa ng dugo. So I asked my OB, and she said Vitamin C will even help my body absorb my iron intake better. So continue pa rin ang aking calamansi juice.

Ha! Di pa lalabas si Winter. Di pa pwede kasi wala pa si Mommy. Di pa ako ready kasi di pa ako nakakatulog hehe. Pero ang bigat bigat na ng tsan ko, ang laki laki na!

Winter update.

I had my check-up again. My Ob was out of the country so a reliever, Dra. Ana Pangan, checked on me for the mean time.

I am 34weeks pregnant with Winter and my weight is the same when I was 32weeks pregnant with Summer, so I am a little bit smaller now than before.

She noticed too that I have a low cbc and advised me to take iron-rich food. I will have my cbc checked again when my OB returns. I asked her what will be the effect to my baby. She said nothing to worry for the baby since he is getting enough from me. Problem is, I'm giving it to him so I am lacking supply for myself and if I give birth and lose a lot of blood, I might need some blood transfer. Which I do not wish to happen so I am now in liver diet.

And she also noticed that I am quite big (kahit smaller na nga ako ng konti compared noon kay Summer) and advised me to eat healthy foods lang (was it her nice way of saying na mag-diet ako? hehehe)

And while she was trying to locate my baby's heartbeat, Winter kicked at the same time at the other side of my tummy. We were both surprised! I was surprised kasi he would often stop moving if somebody else's hand would touch my tummy.

Mataas pa ang baby, pwedeng pwede pa at kayang kaya pa mag-work. Nothing to worry, Mommy!

My bad!

Just last week, I read from www.babycenter.com not to blame preggies if they kept on forgetting stuff for they are busy thinking for two - herself and her baby.

I said to myself, I'm lucky I'm not much forgetful now that I'm pregnant with Winter.

Until I received a text message around 11:30am from Jane informing me that they are at the Church already and I must use the side entrance of the Church instead of the main entrance. I was so shocked! I totally forgot that I was invited to be one of the sponsors for her baby. My bad! Nakakahiya talaga. Although the church is so near lang, I cannot go yet since no driver was available yet and Omar won't let me drive on my own.

Humabol na lang kami ni Summer sa reception. Blooper talaga. Nakakahiya. Pati gift utang. Blame it on my pregnancy.

Weather forecast

Not really the weather's, but my seasons - my coming baby Winter.

I went to see my OB last Tuesday but she was at the delivery room. After waiting for an hour, she called up her secretary to tell me to have my lunch first since her patient hasn't given birth yet. So I decided to just go back on Thursday.

It was one of my longest check-up with her. Not that there was something wrong, I just have lots of questions in mind - parang 1st born ulit hehehe. And a few reminders since I am not allowed to give birth between July 11 and 22, not that it is my due date since I am due on August, for she'll be going out of the country.

Baby's fine, head down, mataas pa daw sya, heart beat was okay, and 3days advance in size based from my last ultrasound.

I can give birth daw as early as August 14. Yikes! Di pa rin ako ready! Summer is not yet ready to be an ate!

Needs iron.

I checked with my OB's secretary yesterday if they received my laboratory results. She asked me to call my OB regarding my CBC result.

I was able to call my OB just this afternoon. My sugar was okay. Rejoice! Rejoice! I can still eat my chocolates! My urinalysis was okay. Ultrasound was okay. But CBC daw was low at 9.9. I wasn't able to ask for the normal score.

I was advised to eat liver and ampalaya - good thing I love liver and I sometimes like ampalaya, and not to stay up too late. Then, I will have my CBC checked again next month. Yikes! Needles again.

Need to stock up on iron!

Check-up

I had my monthly check-up.

I heard Winter's heartbeat through the doppler. Everything is normal.

I have a lot of tests to undergo before I go back to my OB 2 weeks from now - CBC, Sugar test, Urinalysis and Pelvic Ultrasound for fetal assessment.

Nagulat ako! Every 2weeks na ang check-up ko. Malapit na pala ako manganak! 10weeks na lang. Parang teka muna anak! Dyan ka muna, wag ka muna lumabas! Di pa ako nakakapag ayos ng gamit mo. Wala ka pang pajamas. Wala pa nga ikaw cabinet ng gamit mo e.

I can still remember when I was pregnant with Summer, by this time naka-pack na hospital bag ko with our things. Ngayon, wala pa ni isa! It's not that we are not excited, naging busy lang talaga.

Sandali lang Winter ha, matutulog muna si Mama. Di pa ako ready magpuyat!

A visit with my OB

As usual, I am a week late again for my next check-up with my OB.

I finally got my certification that I am fit to travel for our family outing on June. Yey!

Baby's fine. And I'm doing fine. Everything's fine. Thank God!

What's better? Omar accompanied me this time! It's a first for our second baby. Ok lang alam ko naman na busy sya sa shop. I was willing to drive myself to the hospital kasi di din ako makasingit sa driver pero kahit madami syang work, he offered to bring me for my check-up. Bakit daw ako magpapacheck-up? Buntis daw ba ako! Kainis!

Meeting Winter

Summer met Winter for the first time.

I went to my second ultrasound this afternoon. In preparation for the coming baby, I try my best to bring or involve Summer with my check-ups and ultrasounds to acquaint her with the baby. Up to now, she refuse to have the baby inside the tummy.

I had my pelvic ultrasound to check on my fetal age and amniotic fluid. I took the opportunity to get the gender as well.

Winter was in breech position, but nothing to worry, according to the doctor, since the baby is still small and can still turn around. The doctor immediately saw the genitals so we found out right away the gender. Looks like this baby will be more malikot than Summer. One hand was covering the face while the other kept on punching. The baby stretched its body too and turned around. Looks like the doctor had fun looking at the baby as much as I did, it took longer than my usual ultrasound. Though we were trying to show Summer the baby, she tried her best to look for the baby in the monitor. The doctor printed the photo and handed it over to her, and all she could say was 'Cool!' hahahaha.Winter is a boy. For sure, hubby will be happy. I so wanted to give him a boy. Another Bosconian in the family. Omar can finally have his own father and son camping.

Half-way

I'm half-way with my pregnancy! Yipee!

Or so I thought. Ang bilis!!! Up to now, ayaw pa rin ni Summer ng baby waaahhh!!! She throws milk on her baby doll, throw it out of the room, but looks for it when she goes to sleep.

I had my check-up with my ob today and am due for my pelvic ultrasound. Maybe next week, I can visit the laboratory for the ultrasound. Finally, I would get to know the gender of the baby. Sana po boy naman! Pero kahit ano basta healthy at normal.

I'm not as big as when I got pregnant with Summer now. Pero bawas kanin daw sabi ni ob, mahal na daw ang bigas hehehe. Took me years to slim down for a few months just before I got pregnant. It may be harder this time. Sana makapag breastfeed ako directly this time.

Aabangan ang gender!

Thank you Papa!

After weeks of craving, Omar finally bought me my burrito! He went to SM North Edsa, on his way home, just to buy me my burrito!

I had my grilled steak burrito from Mexicali! I had my first bite with my eyes closed, savoring every flavor!

And while I'm enjoying my burrito, Summer was having her own sweet time with her 'cupcorn' - that's how she say popcorn.I love it! Thanks Papa!

Second Check-up

Right after Summer's school, we went to St. Luke's for my check-up.

The doctor and I made Summer hear the baby's heartbeat through the doppler, though I didn't think she was aware of it.

The baby's size was just the right size for her age. Everything's normal. I was given vitamins for iron and multi-vitamins.

I am 16weeks pregnant.
